UK regulations state that if a stove is placed on a combustible floor it must be on a hearth that is 125mm thick with a 50mm air gap or 250mm thick.

This can be reduced to a 12mm superimposed hearth if the manufacturer has tested the stove to ensure that it does not cause the hearth to reach 100°C.

Most stoves that have been raised on a log store or pedestal will not raise the temperature of the hearth however, it is advisable to contact the supplier of your stove or the stove manufacturer to make sure.

Floor plates can really add to the overall look of your stove, whether it be a glass floor plate to add a touch of elegance or a slate floor plate for fantastic, authentic colours.
