The story of ‘modern day’ Hunter stoves started in 1996 when Paul Grimes and Steve Clatworthy, believing in the strength and residual goodwill of the brand coupled with their previous management experience in the sector purchased the design and manufacturing rights, and relocated the business to an old warehouse they leased just outside Exeter.
With a handful of trusted employees, some manufacturing design drawings and a network of loyal dealers the re-emergence of the Hunter brand began.
In 2003 the famous Parkray brand was added to the group’s portfolio and by 2005 Hunter’s continued growth allowed the purchase of a manufacturing site in Camelford in Cornwall.
Included in the plans for the new facility was a home for the R & D engineering team that is still the cornerstone of the groups product development.
The commitment to protecting the environment was further demonstrated when in 2014, Camelford facility was converted to run off energy generated by an array of 700 ‘on site’ solar panels.
In late 2014 the Emperor way Head office and distribution centre in Exeter, became operational and in late 2016 the group acquired the business assets and designs of the Jetmaster brand.
The Hunter Group’s ethos from day 1 has been to constantly evolve product designs that both harness fire’s ability to enhance people’s lives whilst being at the forefront of protecting the environment and it has continue to grow to be one of the most significant brands within the UK stove manufacturing sector.
Today, in 2023 the Hunter Stoves Group continues to design develop and manufacture world class woodburning, gas and multifuel appliances distributed by a family of 600+ dedicated retailers throughout the UK and across the globe.
